IHT 20110831-20130831
Old News is a project about information, media and recycled, reprinted news.
It is a non-profit newspaper presenting a selection of articles, images and words clipped from newspapers.
All articles contained in Old News are chosen and commented on by artists, for the purpose of redistributing the news. Guidelines are given, which change slightly from year to year, but it is essentially up to the artists to interpret them in each instance. Sometimes the artists follow these guidelines, sometimes not.
For Old News #13 Sven Augustijnen was asked to select articles throughout a 24-month period – beginning August 2011 and ending August 2013. Augustijnen selected The International Herald Tribune as his main source of research. IHT 20110831-20130831 presents his choices made within the framework of ‘Leisure, Discipline and Punishment’, Contour 2013, 6th Biennial of Moving Image and ‘Just what is it that makes today so familiar, so uneasy?’, LIAF 2013.
