Auguste Orts is a Brussels-based production and distribution platform for film and video, led by artists Herman Asselberghs, Sven Augustijnen, Manon de Boer, Anouk De Clercq and Fairuz Ghammam, along with the Auguste Orts team: Marie Logie on daily management, Catherine Plenevaux on finance, Eva van Tongeren on distribution and Boris Belay on technical support.

In operation since 2006, the platform’s expanding catalogue includes works by all core members as well as guest productions. Auguste Orts contributes to strengthen the field of film, video and artists’ moving image through research and discursive practices.

The procedure for hosting guest productions relies on initiation by one of the Orts core members. An ongoing conversation with a film artist on her/his/their practice brings about a project proposal that is then brought to the full Orts team for consideration, taken into account the project’s scale and timing, the artist’s needs as well as the platform’s workload planning. Auguste Orts aims at starting up about two guest productions per year and has currently the pleasure to work with Camille Orso, Brahim Tall, Marthe Peters and Léonard Pongo. Finished guest productions include works by Dora García, Annik Leroy, Julie Morel, Aglaia Konrad, Sofie Benoot, Boris Debackere, Olivier Zabat, Joachim Koester, Sirah Foighel Brutmann, Eitan Efrat, Elias Heuninck, Wendelien van Oldenborgh, Robbrecht Desmet, Sammy Baloji, Ina Luchsperger, Alexander Schellow, Nelson Makengo and Eva Giolo.

In collaboration with Argos & Courtisane, Auguste Orts curated DISSENT!, a series of talks and encounters on politics and cinema (2012-2019). Rebooting the series (2022-2024), Echoes of Dissent explored politics and cinema anew from the angles of sound.

From 2014 to 2021, Auguste Orts has initiated two consecutive European cooperative projects that were conceived to research and advance the field of artists’ moving image. On & For Production and Distribution brought together several international partners epitomizing different contexts under which the moving image is taught, produced, exhibited, distributed and collected. On & For events gathered the various professionals who nourish the field: artists, students and teachers, producers and distributors, curators and programmers, representatives of arts and film organisations and funds.

In 2023 Auguste Orts curated the Contour Biennial of Moving Images in Mechelen, Antwerp and Brussels. The festive 10th edition was named C0N10UR: We are rooted but we flow.

Auguste Orts is a non-profit organisation, supported by its Board and Friends Fund.
