Alexander Schellow

Alexander Schellow deals closely with relations between space, perception and action at the junction of artistic and scientific research. His work revolves around a possible documentation on questions of orientation, or of the ways attention is scattered and distributed into given spaces. Since 1999, he has been working on reconstruction processes from memory, based on an ongoing daily drawing practice. This generates different formats often evolving over a long period of time. They build series of drawings, animations, archives, installations, performances and texts.
His recent exhibitions and screenings include a.o. ICA Sofia; FID Marseille; Contour Biennale Mechelen; Le Louvre Paris; Khiasma, [Kollektiv] Biennale Internationale de Casablanca; Musée d’art contemporain Lyon; Museum
of Contemporary Art Belgrade; Pro Arts, Oakland; Sommets du cinéma d’animation Montreal; Festival de Bruz Rennes; Insomnia Moskau; Goethe Institut Mexico City; Videodrome Marseille; Taipei Biennale; Video and Music Festival Kuala Lumpur; Maison de la Poesie Paris; LeBal Paris; Galerie Parduhn Düsseldorf; Centre Charlie Chaplin Lyon; Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI seculo [MAXXI] Rome; Tulla Artcenter Tirana; Centre Pompidou Metz; NGBK, Berlin; Dokfest Kassel; Metropoliz Rome; Petit Palais Paris; Ars Electronica Linz; Institute for Contemporary Arts Singapur & Sharjah Biennal.
