A Pause, 2022
Black and white 16mm film.
The words ‘breathe in’ and ‘breathe out’ are filmed for the duration of an inhalation and an exhalation. This process was repeated several times. The filmstrip is displayed on the wall in the shape of a waveform, with the blank images between ‘breathe in’ and ‘breathe out’ forming the wave’s lowest and highest points.
Her Voice (for C. A.), 2020
Black and white 16mm film
In tribute to Chantal Akerman and the female voice in film, the words ‘her’ and ‘voice’ have been filmed in black and white on 16mm film. Each word is formed into a circle of 36 frames. Suspended one behind the other and slightly overlapping, they form the infinity symbol.
Suspension, 2018
Black and white 16mm film
The word “faith” was filmed on black-and-white 16mm film. A circle of 24 frames (1 second), a second circle of 48 frames (2 seconds), and a third of 72 frames (3 seconds) were placed side by side. The 24-frame circle forms a perfect circle, while the two- and three-second circles gradually sag with the weight of time.
