Times 2
Times 2 is a series of 20 silent student portraits. It is a collection of close-ups of young people who, at the request of the filmmaker, stay focused in front of two cameras running simultaneously. Twenty times two images, shown side by side on adjacent screens. With no marked beginning or end, the visitor can jump in at any point in the looped series. We do not know what goes on in the minds, the hearts, and the lives of these young people. Like any attentive person, they too are completely in the moment, and at the same time out of time. Like all attentive viewers, these students are simultaneously here and now and elsewhere. Times 2 offers images of pure attention, or pure images of attention, that prompt viewers, like those portrayed, to lose track of time.
