An Evening with Auguste Orts #3

An Evening with Auguste Orts # 3:

PROGRAMME

20:00-20:15 Altogether by Herman Asselberghs, Golden Hall
21:00-22:30 Morton Feldman: Triadic Memories (90min), piano solo by Jean-Luc Fafchamps, Silver Hall & Roof Terrace
23:30 End

“The future is dark, which is on the whole the best thing the future can be, I think.” altogether

“Morton Feldman has made Cage’s project his own goal: To reverse the entire Western music history by attacking its basic dialectic—the variation of variation and repetition. While Cage came out with ‘the formless’, Feldman patiently worked to disrupt memory by the technique of “patterns”: a limited number of concise motifs that are not suitable for development alternate in unpredictable combinations and with unforeseen changes. Everything comes back without ceasing, without memory having the chance to detect a signal to anticipate that return. A dizzying meditation on the same, in the shape of the Always Other.” www.ictus.be
